About Hypnosis  

Let me first discuss a bit about the subject to get any misconceptions out of the way. 

You should first know that no one could really hypnotize you except yourself. How this is done is by creating an agreement with the Hypnotist or Therapist, to be guided into hypnosis. It is like a person who allows themselves to be guided into yoga positions by the yoga instructor. The instructor has no control over the individual, they allow themselves to be guided.

With experience of working with many clients since 1999,  Carol will show you how to relax and feel safe. In these sessions you are allowing yourself to be guided, as you would a Yoga instructor telling you to move into different positions, or stretches. As with a Yoga instruction, you will expect to become healthier, more flexible, the instruction will guide you to be more focused, concentrated, while more relaxed than you have ever been before. Listening to the instructions given, YOU ALLOW yourself to be guided into a deep relaxation. You should expect changes in your life. Sometimes from the very first session, you could perceive a change in yourself, however subtle. Changes are taking place on a subconscious level, and anything that is allowed to enter the subconscious cannot, NOT happen in your life. The subconscious mind is the most powerful force in nature. It is linked to all the power there is. You have heard the phrase , “mind over matter.” That is what the subconscious mind does. It moves matter around and creates matter, depending upon the programming within it. If there is negative programming then the manifestation of experiences and matter are negative and vise versa.

Therefore, expect to allow yourself to be deeply hypnotized. Expect healing, and expect change. If you would eliminate the words HOPE or TRY you will notice better results.  "Gee I hope this is true, or I hope it works", this tells the subconscious it is not true for you. The words Hope and Try only sound positive to the conscious mind, but the conscious mind has no power to create positive change. It means you really do not believe it and that is OK, however, you can change the mind’s perceptions. The subconscious mind is where all of your power resides. HOPING puts the power outside instead of inside where it can effect changes. Here is where you recognize you are not a victim of your own or anyone else's negative thinking. Here is where you take control over you life. You are calling your Power and your Spirit back to your body and not giving it away to all the negative beliefs, negative words and phrases you have heard in your life, nor the negative people who have told you negative things about yourself and your life, ever again.

One important rule to prepare yourself for positive change is to examine what it is you talk about with your friends. What do you think about and discuss with yourself when alone? Have you been continuously rehashing the same old scripting of your life? What are you feeding into your subconscious mind daily? What you say to yourself in the privacy of your thoughts, becomes your reality. Whatever you focus on expands in your world. What you repeatedly think about becomes your reality. If you are sick and all you think about is the sickness, your subconscious is focusing on that instead of the health and well being you desire. What you want should be what you focus upon the most and give yourself a new idea of what you want to become. DELETE negative phrases. Everyone should have a delete button handy in his or her mind in order to cancel out negative scripting.

For about the first four to six weeks, you may find it hard, but do not talk about yourself in the old terms and definitions. Keep a log of phrases you repeat daily. Do not allow words that make you feel guilt because the subconscious will try to relieve you of this guilt by punishing you. That means eating more and gaining more weight. If also means you cannot talk about yourself, then talk about the weather, a movie, a book, the future without bringing up yourself or the past. This allows you to stay focused on your goals as you imagine what it is to be your slim healthy self, your REAL self.

This log will show you how much you have been programming yourself to stay the same, and reprogramming and reprogramming, by continuously talking about (scripting) "the reason why I have a problem is…. . Or the reason why nothing changes is…. Or I don't know why my life is like this. or I do everything right why can't I have this or that…". All those are affirmations to the subconscious and since they are connected to emotion, (fear), they cut through the critical mind factor and go straight into the subconscious as programming. You see the conscious mind will rationalize any irrational thought and give you a perfectly good reason why you think, say or do the negative things you do. Thus, reinforcing the negative programming already there. Remember the subconscious is listening to every thought or word spoken. It is a computer taking data, then spitting it out back to you in experience. It may be time to change the programming in your computer if you are not happy with the kind of life you are experiencing. Begin to imagine yourself as you would like yourself to be. Feel the feeling every day and make it real in your mind as the subconscious mind does not know the difference between anything real or imagined and it gravitates to the thing you focus on the most.
For a few weeks, give yourself a vacation for your mind, to effect change. Listening to music, play, be creative, exercise, whatever it takes to get you focused on other positive things. Watch and listen to what you talk about. Use your DELETE button often. Use the words '"delete or cancel" when you hear yourself say something negative. Mentally cross out negative statements said by others by putting a big cross through their statement. Eventually the subconscious will become used to not accepting what you delete, cancel, or cross out. You deserve the best there is & you are no longer a victim, but a powerful creator..

HERE ARE SOME MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT HYPNOSIS

         WILL I BE IN A DEEP SLEEP?

The largest misconception about hypnosis is that it is sleep. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are asleep, you are unconscious. If you are unconscious, you cannot hear anything. If you cannot hear anything, then the hypnotist cannot help you. Hypnosis is a state of keen awareness. The subject is wide-awake and aware of everything around her. This misconception stems from the stage hypnotist's use of the word "sleep" as analogous to the hypnotic state. When the old time hypnotist swung the watch in front of the subject's face, he told the subject that she was getting "sleepy." He then told the subject to go to sleep. What he meant was to go into a hypnotic sleep; not a natural sleep.

          IS THERE A HYPNOTIZED FEELING?

The second largest misconception is that there is a hypnotized feeling. There is no hypnotized feeling. Other than a feeling of deep relaxation, there is no weird feelings. Most people feel very relaxed when in hypnosis, as relaxation seems to be the essence of hypnosis. Some people feel heavy. Some people feel light. Some people have other sensations and feelings. Other people have absolutely no feeling that they are in hyp­nosis, and believe they have not been hypnotized when they most definitely have.

        CAN I BE CONTROLLED DURING HYPNOSIS?

NO! The hypnotist cannot make you do anything against your will. There is always an observing state of mind. Should the hypnotist make an offensive suggestion; this guardian of your mind would reject the suggestion. You will probably come out of hypnosis if the hypnotist makes an offensive suggestion.

        CAN THE HYPNOTIST MAKE ME REVEAL ANY OR ALL OF MY SECRETS?

You will not reveal your secrets under hypnosis unless you want to do so. The hypnotist does not have any control over the subject. Quite the contrary, the subject has more control over herself since at this time she has control over her own subconscious mind. The subject can easily reject any suggestion the hypnotist makes, no matter how simple or complicated the suggestion might be. The subject can open her eyes, emerge from the state of hypnosis, and walk out of the room at any time she chooses.

        MUST PEOPLE TELL THE TRUTH WHEN IN HYPNOSIS?

NO! People can lie when in hypnosis. 

 

        DO HYPNOTISTS HAVE SPECIAL POWERS AND VIBRATIONS?

This is a common misconception. The hypnotist does not have any special powers, nor does he have any special vibrations with which to hypnotize you. Actually, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist leads the subject into a state of hypnosis. In other words, the ability of hypnosis is in the subject.

WHY DO PEOPLE FAIL TO REACH THEIR GOALS USING HYPNOSIS?

Perhaps the greatest reason for the inability to reach ones goals through hypnosis is an inadequate amount of practice where self-hypnosis is concerned. The greatest reason for the return of a symptom or "relapse" is the premature discontinuance of hypnosis with the Hypno-technician.

 

Some people are penny wise and pound-foolish. They mentally set an amount of time, or money that they are willing to spend for help. And then they prematurely discontinue their sessions because, "I can't afford it." Or, "I didn't lose 50 Lbs. in two days." If a person or method is really helping one to make their desired changes, then it is priceless and it should be continued.

 

It is for this reason that follow up hypnosis is generally recommended even after a symptom seems to have disappeared completely.  Self-hypnosis should be an ongoing affair on a daily basis. Ultimately, YOUR SUCCESS IS UP TO YOU!
